ABOUT
Meet Dr. Keith Brooks
Dr. Brooks speaks from a depth of experience as the first African American tenured professor in an education department at a local university, the first Director of Diversity & Multicultural Affairs, and an Academic Dean at another community college.
The remarkable aspect of his journey began amidst high gang activity and drug distribution on the streets of South Central Los Angeles, Compton, and Inglewood in the 1980s. Despite the social challenges of that time, family, faith, coaches, and teachers helped him see something in himself that he didn’t quite recognize until later in life. A unique summer youth leadership opportunity at Stanford University after his 11th-grade year sparked a light in him that Xavier University of Louisiana brought to a beautiful flame. During graduate school at the University of Minnesota (Twin Cities), Dr. Brooks developed a voice that your audience will treasure.
A gifted communicator and public speaker, Dr. Brooks is rising as a keynote speaker for any commencement or graduation, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day, convocation/school year kick-off, or other specialty inspirational student affairs events.
Dr. Keith Brooks epitomizes a success story, with groundbreaking firsts in numerous professional settings over the last 25 years. His expertise is in youth and adult development, with executive leadership experience in non-profit and K-12 settings, and fond memories as a tenured university professor and college Academic Dean.
